Fuck it all...
Feb. 28th, 2008 09:05 pmOk, I need help.
My desktop has a virus. No real suprise, I'm terrible about virus scan updates.
However, I apparently have one of the nastiest trojans you can get. The 'wintools' one. Its layered in, and buried hard and deep in multiple places. I haven't used my desktop in months, since Rob found it. He tried to get rid of it, but the double-triple-fuck-all layering couldn't be deleted everywhere.
I've already decided to get a new computer (between tax refund, the money Rob owes me, and expense checks coming in, should be easy). The problem is that I need to get my music and a couple of other files off my desktop.
How can I do that without transferring the virus? Apparently it's in My Documents too. I thought about an external hard drive, but the virus would transfer. My CD burner sucks, and it would take forever. Windows apparently won't even run properly anymore without blue screen of death. Rob wants to install Linux, but I don't know if my computer can handle it...I don't know what it needs to run.
Does anyone have any ideas? Suggestions? Want to help. I just want my goddamned music back. I just downloaded a few albums, maybe a month before the trojan hit. And iTunes won't let me download them again without paying again...
HELP!!!
Food/fun/booze can be supplied to any who can get my music and stuff back from the trojan of death.
